Hey y'all !
I am raising funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas on September 19th and 20th, 2020, to go Over The Edge - literally
See, ten years ago (jeez, has it really been that long?!) I stumbled across a small advertisement by Make A Wish, for a fundraiser called Over The Edge. It challenges you to step up to the edge and rappel from a high rise in the heart of downtown Austin. The first 200 fundraisers to raise a minimum of $1,500 will earn a spot to go Over The Edge.
I thought "What?? As a Firefighter, I already know what it's like to rescue folks who are in Immediate need of help. Rappelling from the roof of a skyscraper, for fun, as a fundraiser to help some sick kiddos??! That sounds awesome!!"
And I did it. More than once. I have participated in this fundraiser something like 5 or 6 times. A couple of times, I even surprised 2 of my brothers by making them unexpectedly take the step Over The Edge. I'm pretty sure they both had fun with it !
To sum it up:
I hope you can help me reach my goal and help make a difference in the lives of children who need it most!
Here is some additional information straight from Make A Wish:
More than 550 children in central and south Texas are diagnosed each year with a critical medical condition. Last year, Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas granted 309 wishes for local children. Research shows that a wish can give a child the mental and physical strength needed to fight their illness. You can help Make-A-Wish® reach more of these children and create hope, strength and joy in their lives. Money raised by rappellers goes towards granting these wishes.
