I am raising funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas by joining 200 people on September 19th & 20th 2020, to go Over The Edge - literally! Over The Edge challenges you to face your fears, catch your breath, step up to the edge and rappel from a downtown skyrise in the heart of Austin. The first 200 fundraisers to raise a minimum of $1,500 will earn a spot to go Over The Edge.
My daughter, Megan, had a heart transplant in 2006. In 2007 she received her Make-A-Wish to go to Australia surfing. Megan always wanted to do something that most her friends had not. She was limited in the sports area growing up because of her heart. With her new heart she wanted to try something new and different.
The day I saw her reach that dream with a huge smile on her face was one of the greatest days in my life. Our family is forever grateful to Make-A-Wish for making Megan's dream come true. That is why we want to give back. Megan, Ryan and I have all rappelled over-the-edge. Now it is Michael's turn and I decided to join him.
More than 500 children in central and south Texas are diagnosed each year with a critical medical condition. Last year, Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas granted 309 wishes for local children. Research shows that a wish can give a child the mental and physical strength needed to fight their illness. You can help Make-A-Wish® reach more of these children and create hope, strength and joy in their lives. Money raised by rappellers goes towards granting these wishes.
