Thank you for taking time to consider supporting my current fundraising campaign for Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas.

Why do I do love Make A WIsh?  My heart goes out to the 500+ children and families in central and south Texas who are diagnosed each year with a critical medical condition. Last year, Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas granted 309 wishes for local children. Research shows that a wish can give a child the mental and physical strength needed to fight their illness.

What is Over The Edge?   It is a fundraising event that physically challenges those who raise money for Make A Wish. For me, it started with a challenge from some of the board members of Make A Wish.  The Wish Days I host are not in anyway physical for me, except for my feeble attempts avoiding welling up in tears each time.  Besides the tears, I am in my motorsports loving element.

Here's what the Over The Edge day was like for me last year.

I can’t say that I have ever felt I was scared of heights, so when she challenged me to fund raise and participate in the Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas 2021 Over The Edge event, I thought it would be no big deal.

WRONG!!! More than any racing experience, my heart raced, head & hands sweated and stomach churned endlessly. I’ve never seen my own hands shake like they were as I was harnessed. As I looked around at fellow rappelers, none of them seemed as uneasy as my stomach felt. Nervously I tried to be humorous in front of an interview camera, though I suspect I failed.
Stepping out off the roof and leaning back, horizontal to the ground 26 stories below, made my throat tense and that made my voice change as I tried to answer the Rope Crews check questions. I looked north to the Texas State Capitol building in amazement that I was as high as Lady Liberty, yet hanging by a rope and leaning backwards. “Move the lever to control your own speed.” 5 minutes and 18 seconds later, my feet arrived at the landing. “Wow, that was pretty fast”, the landing manager told me. It honestly didn’t seem fast enough to me.
No bones about it. It’s the most nervous times I have ever experienced in my life. It challenged me though the best reward were the funds raised for the children of Make A Wish.

On  October 29, 2022,  I hope to go Over The Edge!    This year, my goal is to not only qualify, but also not get queasy or overly nervous.  I will rappel from a higher altitude, using the side of the W Hotel skyrise (32 floors tall) in downtown Austin.

I hope you can help me reach my goal and together we can make a difference in the lives of children who need it most!
